Destination Dalmarnock | Glasgow 2014

Building on work developed during the Civic Fabrication studio at The University of Edinburgh (MA Architecture graduating project), Destination Dalmarnock was a summer intervention, working alongside a local community in Glasgow’s East End – the host for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

With supervision from design tutor Alex MacLaren, and input from Glasgow firm Pidgin Perfect, several students (myself included) organised and constructed a temporary venue in Dalmarnock. This played host to a series of workshops and social events aimed at engaging the local community, and discussing the ways they had been affected by the games, whether positively or adversely. Drawings, individual models, and a large scale master-planning model were all on display as we discussed possible futures for the area.
